'Rule of thirds' rules

Mr. Sanchez is on the right two-thirds of the frame of this photo
We were allowed to take more pictures today, which I was happy about. Today's lesson was about the rule of thirds. Basically, the 'rule of thirds' is the dividing of an image into nine different and equal parts. Some cameras come with the option of turning on this grid while others don't. Fortunately for me, mine did so I used it to my advantage. We learned that to effectively use this grid, we must align the subject's eyes and other points of interest with the grid. That way, our photos would look more compelling.

My pictures turned out much better than they did yesterday. They looked a lot more professional. These are probably some of the best photos I've taken in a while and photos I am definitely proud of. An example would be my first photo. It was a picture of a trail group running on the track, approaching me. I was definitely surprised when I saw what I had taken. It looked like an image from a professional photography site...well, kind of but point is, it looked good (better than yesterday's). Now that I know the 'rule of thirds', I am definitely going to use it a lot more now. It'll make my photos look a lot more interesting and even my family members envious. :)
