Portrait Photography By Yan M.

When it comes to portrait photography, I'm not so proud as i would be with other types of photography. Dr. Lansang wanted us to play with the exposure that was provided by the light from the windows. What we were doing is called Exposure Composition. We were given a "reflector" to reflect light on the subject increasing the exposure. My difficulty was keeping the photo in focus, but my picture came out with motion blur. This is the blur you get from moving your camera with a slow shutter speed. What i did as increase the speed as well as the aperture, or hole, so the exposure of the photo was just right or neutral. Another blur that interfered with my picture was the blur you get when the ISO is set to high, which is another change I made to my picture. All in all the picture I took did not look so bad.

  1. Nice Job! The background is simplified and your subject is exposed well.

  2. This was a nice photo yan the exposure in the photo was perfect and the subject was neither under exposed or over exposed. Also i like how your subject was not just sitting up straight, but instead did his own thing. Keep up the work Yan

  3. Actually, Yann, this is very well done, and I watched you and your team struggle to create this photo, and your extra work paid off. The exposure is good, the background is nicely lit, and the reflectors added the right amount of light to the subject's face. I'm glad that you took the time and effort to compose this assignment. -DL
