Portrait

this picture was achieved by using a 50mm 1.8 lens and i had the subject hold the reflector. this photo was not very hard to achieve. although as the model it is harder than the photographer, because when i was a model it was quite uncomfortable with a camera in my face. also another difficult obstacle with taking a portrait is that i as the photographer had to make sure the photo was not under or over exposed, there are no shadows, and follow the rule of thirds. in my photo i had my subject remove his glasses because there was a reflection. i also used a ehite backdrop to contrast with the subjects black hoodie. this is all of the things i had to take into concideration when taking portrait photos.

  1. Great, i love how my eyes are in perfect focus while every thing else is not, like the shoulder. Also, the exposure was great in the photo, it was neither over nor underexposed.

  2. Ryan: it's interesting for me that you already noticed that the CAMERA work involved in portraits is really easy, but the LIGHTING and the POSING are the difficult parts. In real life, you will have to learn how to deal with these challenges when taking photos of people, and that is why it was important for each of you, students, to have a turn at being a 'model'; now you know what it feels to try to pose for a photographer who is trying to get a good picture. Nicely done. -DL
