Trips to NYC

Butterfly on a flower in High line Park.
During last week the photography class went to three field trips (photography journeys). The photography journeys all took place in New York City, we went to Central Park, High line Park, Brooklyn Bridge, and Times Square. In the photography journey the class took more and more photos each time we went to the city. Taking more pictures each day was worth it because we had a better chance in choosing which picture we liked best. And with our knowledge of photography's elements and its principles we weren't taking pictures as tourists but as photographers in the making.

On the top left hand corner is a picture of a butterfly in which it  landed in the flower. The butterfly and  the flower were both in focus while the grass in the back is out of focus. Also the butterfly is color contrasting itself from the flower. The way I got this picture was I zoomed into my subject and I  started taking the picture of my subject from different angles. Out of every picture I took this picture was the best one.
New Year's Ball in Times Square.

On the left hand of the page is a picture of the New Year's Ball. Which looks like it is dropping down just like how it did on New Years. The colors of the ball are contrasts itself with everything around it . Also the  clear blue sky makes the background simplified enough to make the picture look good. If  I looked at my subject in a different angle then I would have gotten a better result.

On the bottom of the page is a picture taken in front of  the Manhattan Mall. I was looking for something unique to happen and as I turned around the gray SUV was surrounded by the yellow taxi cabs and by the school bus which was a perfect time to take a picture. If I  had turned around when the SUV passed by then it wouldn't have been the same as how the picture looks like now. The technique that appeared was color contrast since the gray SUV differed from the yellow taxi cabs around it.
