Portrait Photography By Michael Crentsil

Our task for today was to take a portrait of a person. I chose to take a picture of one of my classmates. I place him facing the window and in front of the white backdrop. I made him tilt his body so he wasn't square to the camera with his chin slightly down. the image came out like this due to ISO setting, and help from my crew who held the reflector so it wasn't underexposed.

  1. Great, what would have ben nice is to use a reflector to increase exposure right below his face. All in All great.

    1. Yan: as the subject, and as a photographer, you could have suggested this reflector to your classmate. Thanks for being the model in two assignments. Now you know how it feels to be a 'model'; keep that feeling in mind when you take portrait photos of other people. -DL

  2. This was a nice photo but it looks like the photo is maybe a bit under exposed and it looks like you did not use a reflector in this shot. If you used a reflector your subject would have had more light on his face and the photo would have come out better.

  3. You did a good job in composing this photo, and the reflectors that your "crew" were holding helped to improve the exposure. An additional reflector UNDER the chin would have helped with the shadow that formed under your subject's chin. -DL
